After purchasing a Bandai Namco game, installing it and trying to use it for the first time, you are greeted by an EULA that you have to accept.

Anti-consumer EULA statements

Here is a list of the different statements found in Bandai Namco Entertainment EULA[1] which are openly limiting the consumer's ownership over their products:

  1. You have not purchased the game or a copy of the game[citation needed]
  2. You have no ownership of the copy of the game[citation needed]
  3. You have been granted a license to use the game, in the dedicated hardware
  4. This license can be revoked in any time by any of the parties

No refund on EULA termination

Article 5.c of the Bandai Namco Entertainment EULA[1]:

Upon termination of this Agreement: (i) your license to the Game shall cease immediately; and (ii) you will not be entitled to a refund of any fees, including any unused fees, if any, except for Purchased Game Currency refunded as required by applicable law.

Why this is negative for the consumer

Practices like this erode consumer ownership. They are part of the you will own nothing narrative that companies are now trying to push. This goes directly against consumers' interests as it removes the consumer's authority over its property.
