About 5 yrs ago, PolarBackup sold permanent lifetime subscription for a minimal, one time fee. Users that pay the initial fee got 5TB. Out of nowhere the company terminated the lifetime subscription.
This is their response.
Greetings,
First and foremost, we extend our sincerest gratitude for your support as a member of the Polarbackup community.
It is with a heavy heart that we must inform you of the permanent closure of Polarbackup accounts associated with lifetime subscriptions. This decision was not taken lightly but was deemed necessary due to the evolving landscape of operational costs. Our unwavering commitment has always been to offer a reliable, secure, and sustainable backup solution. However, the increasing operational expenses have posed significant challenges to the long-term viability of our lifetime account offerings.
Despite our best efforts, and after issuing numerous notification alerts via email starting from early March 2024, we regret to inform you that those who did not seize the opportunity to upgrade their accounts have unfortunately forfeited access to them.
We deeply appreciate your steadfast support throughout the years as a Polarbackup user. We understand the inconvenience and disappointment this closure may cause, and we extend our heartfelt apologies for any disruption to your cloud backup service. Regrettably, please be aware that any data associated with your lifetime account has been permanently deleted and is irretrievable.
Once again, we express our sincere gratitude for your understanding and patience during this transition period. Should you have any further inquiries or require assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Best Regards,
