Kwik Trip cybersecurity incident (2023)
On 9 October 2023, Kwik Trip was hacked that resulted in their website and Kwik Trip Rewards app being non-operational for two weeks, which also caused company-wide shortages of milk and bread.[2] The company initially responded saying it was a cybersecurity incident via a post and sent a letter to all possibly infected customers.[3][4][5]
"Although a thorough investigation is ongoing and further information may be uncovered, current findings indicate that we experienced a cybersecurity incident that caused disruption to systems located on our internal network on Monday, Oct. 9, 2023. The incident was detected within hours and mitigation efforts began immediately with the assistance of external cybersecurity experts."[6]
Although the company said no financial information was stolen, it wasn't disclosed who the original perpetrators were nor how many customers were affected.
