JetBrains has discontinued CodeCanvas, its cloud development environment product.[1]

Background

CodeCanvas was JetBrains' cloud development environment (CDE), allowing developers to run and manage projects on remote infrastructure rather than local machines.[2]

Discontinuation

On 16 October 2025, JetBrains announced that CodeCanvas would stop working after 31 March 2026, and that public artifacts would no longer be available after that date.[3] Under the announced timeline, JetBrains stopped providing new CodeCanvas licenses or subscription upgrades from 16 October 2025, existing users could continue using the product until 31 March 2026, and support would continue until 1 January 2026.[4]

JetBrains' response

JetBrains said the decision reflected the product being too niche in a software development landscape shifting toward artificial intelligence tools, and that its team would consult paid clients on migration options before the shutdown deadline.[5]
