Good2Go Mobile, a Canadian prepaid mobile carrier and subsidiary of Ztar Wireless, sold no-contract prepaid SIM cards with per-minute calling.[1]
Background
Good2Go Mobile's prepaid plans carried no contract, charging per minute of use.[1] The service ran on network access supplied by other carriers; in filings to the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), parent company Ztar accused Rogers of denying it access to modern LTE and VoLTE services while offering those features to its own discount brand Chatr, and of giving short notice of disconnection while Ztar was migrating customers to a new network.[1]
Incident
Canada's 3G networks were shut down on 31 August 2025. Good2Go Mobile told customers with phones relying on 3G that they would lose service unless they switched, and offered a free SIM card through Lucky Mobile, which runs on Bell's 4G LTE network.[1] Customers switching to Lucky Mobile could keep their existing phone numbers but lost any unused account balance, and Lucky Mobile plans started at $19 per month, moving customers from prepaid per-minute billing to monthly plans.[1]
Consumer response
Customers on Reddit's r/CellPhoneCanada forum reported losing service around the transition and being unable to connect their accounts on the Good2Go Mobile website, even where their handsets supported VoLTE.[2]
