This RfC is intended for editors to both comment and coordinate on any aspects of the process of navigating the wiki they feel could be improved, or to discuss improvements they would like to make to the CRW themselves.
AnotherConsumerRightsPerson's thoughts
I'll start this off. I'll need a bit longer to properly gather some thoughts, but I've decided to have a look at the main page when you first login to the wiki, and think of what you see first. You see a welcome with a blue link that leads to the mission statement of the wiki, with some text explaining what it's for, and then the next thing you see is entirely about learning how to edit. My first thoughts on this are:
- The buttons aren't clearly labelled (they aren't a different color to the rest of the header)
- There are four different links. This could be a bit confusing for visitors as they don't know what to click - and therefore might not become editors.
- I'd imagine the majority of users want to read the CRW, not contribute and maybe don't even know why they should. Introducing editing later instead of the moment you read the MP seems to be better, as visitors will not know how to read anything. The question is, how do we introduce it later? I don't know, maybe article notices will help with that.
After, there are browsing links which get you to different categories (which, by the way, I hate categories for navigation, people won't know what to read that way) and yet another box saying how you can edit. Then, there's the Top Articles. I'd much rather this would be the first thing people see, as they are actual works of art instead of saying 'Hey! Contribute to this wiki you've never seen before! Also, these are some random links that lead into stubs for you to read. Also, why not learn how to help?' All this being before the top articles. Wow, the MP is worse than I thought. - Just as I made this, Discussion forum was made. WOW, that is ironic timing and shows how hard it is to navigate the main page and other parts. AnotherConsumerRightsPerson (talk) 16:26, 4 March 2026 (UTC)
